Underwriter Job - Sparks, MD - Posted 3/18/08

 This is position will support the portfolio management function for the Small Business Team, primarily responsible for the annual review and renewal process, as well as working with business bankers on new offerings, inputting into CCM, etc.  Provides analytical support for the extension of credit and the ongoing administration of credit. Interacts independently or with supervision with relationship managers, other sales personnel, credit officers and occasionally bank management, clients or prospects. No direct credit approval authority. Credit decisions will take into consideration work prepared. Develops credit skills and industry expertise, as appropriate. Participates in various ongoing training opportunities that will enhance credit skills and industry expertise, as appropriate.   Prepares offerings by determining credit worthiness and financial condition of borrowers. Use analysis and loan evaluation tools to evaluate profitability and open on pricing, create loan request with justification, and prepare documentation. Coordinates the receipt of collateral valuations consistent with bank standards. Assess credit worthiness by determining and gathering information necessary to analyze the financial strength of borrowers. This is done by assessing organizational structure and financial statements such as balance sheet, income statements, cash flows; and evaluating overall strengths and weaknesses of borrower. Make recommendation for risk rating based on analysis. May assist or have primary responsibility for the timely administration of loans within an assigned portfolio, including the preparation of annual reviews and the satisfactory resolution of credit deficiencies, such as collateral exceptions and covenant violations. May prepare SAC reports.

Bachelors Degree - Business, Finance or Accounting. Successful completion of a PNC Credit Training Program (18-24 months) or a comparable program at another financial institution or participation in lending or credit activities for a period of one to three years. Basic credit analysis skills. Computer literacy. Sound teamwork and written and verbal communication skills. Must be self-motivated and proficient in time management.
