Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Reviewing, examining and underwriting loans to ensure soundness, business value and compliance with company and investor standards
- Assessing loan attributes and documentation for soundness and accuracy
- Reviewing, evaluating and synthesizing data to ascertain loan viability and identify risk issues and potential fraud
- Evaluating debt ratio, loan-to-value ratios, credit score, property valuation and various other factors
- Determining and documenting loan conditions and communicating requirements and/or decisions
- Assisting in identifying, recommending and/or negotiating alternative loan requirements, funding and/or loan-structuring solutions
- Providing input on new and/or existing Underwriting processes, procedures and/or approaches
- Independently isolating, defining and determining course-of-action on complex and financially sensitive Underwriting issues
- Assisting others in researching and interpreting complex data to determine meaning and course-of-action
- Providing input to and/or participating in the development of Underwriting processes and/or services
- Assisting in the development of Underwriting personnel
- Providing insight, direction and expertise to less experienced team-members
- Independently making decisions and leading projects
- Conceptualizing and planning courses-of-action based on consideration of all variables, options and alternatives
- Building and managing extensive networks of business, Broker and internal relationships
A Successful Candidate Will Have:
- 10+ years of Underwriting experience
- Full Conventional- and Government-Underwriting designations (DE and LAPP certifications required)
- Understanding of legal, regulatory, economic, competitive and technological environments which potentially affect Real-Estate Lending programs
- Expertise in multiple Underwriting specializations
- Expert understanding of Processing, Underwriting and Closing procedures
- Expert understanding of Underwriting systems and their interdependencies
- Advanced computer-skills
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
The Ideal Candidate May Also Possess:
- Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree and/or equivalent experience
