Position Title: Mortgage Underwriter
Reports:
Manager, Underwriting Branch
Position Description:
To evaluate and underwrite First Mortgage, Fixed Equity loans and Home Equity lines of credit applications within the limits of authority delegated by the Credit Committee.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Trainee:
- Experience in First Mortgage and Equity processing and closing and/or credit granting experience.
- Experience in the interpretation and application of Fair Lending and Consumer Protection laws/regulations such as ECOA, TIL, and RESPA as they apply to credit granting.
- Working knowledge of underwriting criteria utilized by VA and conventional financing guidelines set forth by FNMA and FHLMC
- Strong analytical and organization skills
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise judgment and initiative
- Familiarity with data base and wordprocessing software
Target:
- Underwriting experience that demonstrates proficiency and sound knowledge
Desired:
- High school education
Hours: Monday - Friday / 9am - 5:30pm
Flexibility with hours to include some evening and weekend work
