Basic Function:

Position is responsible for mortgage loans originated by correspondents accourding to guidelines set by M&T Mortgage Corp., FNMA, FHLMC and FHA. Underwrite wholesale mortgage loans to determine acceptablility with the secondary market standards set by the investor. The position will also re-underwrite and verify monthly, a sampling of loans to insure the accuracy of the documentation delivered by the wholesale correspondent. Underwriters have frequent day–to-day communication with external and internal customers alike.

Responsibilities:

Underwrite residential mortgage loans according to investor guidelines, assist Management to clear conditions and expedite loan closings and assist sales with underwriting scenarios.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in mortgage banking.
A minimum three to five years mortgage underwriting experience.
Knowledge of automated underwriting systems (FNMA D/u, FHLMC LP)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ideal Qualifications:

2-4 years FHA DE underwriting  experience.
FiServ/Unifi experience
