Job Description:
The loan officer will be responsible for originating and closing loans on multifamily properties located throughout Massachusetts. MHP’s loan programs provide permanent financing for multifamily rental properties from five units to several hundred units, including projects funded with low-income housing tax credits, bond financing, state and federal housing programs, and participations from Fannie Mae. The properties we finance include mixed-income projects for families, single-room occupancy housing, assisted living and other facilities serving the elderly, and properties serving special needs populations. MHP’s borrowers range from small non-profit and for-profit developers to some of the largest and most sophisticated developers in the Northeast.Responsibilities: Originate and close loans while meeting individual, lending team, and agency goals for loan quality and production. Prepare credit analyses and make presentations to Loan Committee and Board of Directors. Participate in the development of new lending programs and policies. Market lending programs, develop new potential borrowers, and maintain business relationships with existing borrowers.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience in multifamily lending to both for-profit and non-profit borrowers. Strong communications, marketing, and loan origination skills are required. Interested candidates must have very strong analytical and computer skills, and a working knowledge of affordable housing programs is a plus but not a requirement. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 5-7 years of lending experience. A master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.
