Responsible for originating retail mortgage loans. Contact may be either telephonic or in-person. Can sell direct to customers or solicit customers indirectly through third parties such as builders/developers or realtors.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is preferred
Mortgage Skills
• Knowledge of the Realtor/Builder segment of the mortgage industry, as well as a thorough knowledge of Conventional (conforming and non-conforming),
FHA and VA loan products, including the ability to originate and process all loan types. Thorough working knowledge of HELOCs/Fixed seconds and
ability to cross-sell
• Thorough knowledge of pricing of all loan products
• Knowledge of local real estate community
• 5+ years mortgage banking experience. 3+ years experience originating residential loan applications.
• Proven ability to generate a minimum of $1M fundings per month
• Thorough working knowledge of pre-qualification principles and practices
• Understanding of the selling process, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Incumbents must possess:
• Excellent organizational skills, excellent presentation skills and exhibit a professional appearance
• Ability to work flexible hours on a regular basis with mandatory availability on weekends
• Proficiency in the use of such software as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to interact effectively with customers, Builders, Realtors and other business partners
• Experience in developing and implementing targeted marketing and sales plan
Communication Skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills a must. Strong people skills.
Math Ability
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and
geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
Computer Skills
Word processing, internet software, E-mail, database software.
